Transforms and Anatomical Thought Maps (2014)
A drawing series done in residency in Amsterdam employs collage, line work, ink, paper cutting, acrylic emulsion and photo reactive dye exposures. Transforms visually explore the process of one thing becoming another. Some Dutch-South African colonial history and research on historical trade and slavery is unpacked. Thought Maps investigate the anatomy of a distilled thought and its transformation. They record the metaphorical course of a thought/paradigm shifting and are informed by studies of seeds and single celled organisms.
